Located north of the St. Lawrence River, East of Montreal between the Laurentians and the Mauricie region, 1 hour from Montreal and 2 hours from Quebec city, Lanaudière is more than just a drive-through region. Streaked with numerous back roads, where welcoming bed and breakfasts and country products are showcased in the south, the north features wide-open spaces for outdoor activitie. Many inns offer packages combining pleasure and relaxation to outdoor activities which must be discovered.
Lanaudiere has been reknowned for 30 years as a prime snowmobiling destination among famous activities. 6 regional parks featuring many waterfalls and 1 National Park “Parc national du Mont Tremblant” have kilometers of walking trails. More than 10 000 lakes for canoeing or fishing are also very popular.
Also, Lanaudiere is host of the most important Classical Music Festival in Canada “Festival de Lanaudiere” where artists from around the world come to enjoy this fantastic accoustic and what is so particular about this festival is the fact that it is outdoor. Every week-end in July has different shows to present. In 2007, they are celebrating their 30th year and I guess the will have some surprises to offer their public !
All this within a few hours from major cities. No need to go further, Lanaudiere is Quebec’s most well kept secret.
